Dear portfolio reader,
Before taking English 101, I would consider myself a
poor writer. Even though in high school I never did badly in my English classes
I always had hard time writing. Instead of brainstorming and organizing my
ideas I would just start writing. Many times I would move on to the next
paragraph before I even finished the one I was working on. When the semester started
and I was English 101 I wasn’t confident in my writing. I knew this English
class was going to be different. I was determined to improve my writing skills.
During the semester various essays were assigned to
build writing skills. The essay that I enjoyed writing most was the ethnography.
This assignment was to write about a group by observing them in their “natural
habitat”.
